Much of the Lean Mindset is based on a profound discontent with the current situation. To do anything about it requires building a coalition and a momentum for change. It takes activists and agitators to help others see the problems and opportunities.

For a long time, I’ve talked about Agile also being as much a political movement as anything else that seeks to profoundly restructure working social organisations to enable better work to happen. One that requires a Permanent Revolution.

So when I came across this quote, from the early idealistic days of UK socialism, it resonated with me.

I am an agitator. My work has consisted of trying to stir up a divine discontent with wrong.Keir Hardie

I’ve certainly long described myself as an activist. But an agitator? Well, yes, that too, I think.
